The Action Super Hero

In the past, I would have set myself up for constant failure by downplaying my potential. I always thought fitting in would make things easier, yet I became a slave to the opinions of others. Thus, I lost hope of my true ambitions and goals for my life. I started to make frequent cameos in various people’s movies (figuratively speaking). There were times I never made some sort of difference. I was just there and didn’t have anything to offer.

Growing up, I dreamed of becoming a superhero like Superman, Spider-Man, The Flash (Barry Allen), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), and Son Goku. It’s funny that at my age, I still aspire to be a superhero with no superpowers of my own hahahahaha. What I still love about my life is that I can be something that gives me a higher purpose to do good in this world. Whenever I talk about comic book stories about Superman and Spider-Man to friends, I can feel this burning passion to be more heroic like them.

I can go all day about why these superheroes are pure and unique because of how they’re represented in the best possible light. However, the point is that we can position ourselves as lead actors or actresses in our own stories. I love telling this analogy to myself so that I can remember to put myself first and not sacrifice my dreams for the sake of people pleasing and not rock the boat.

One of these days, our family members will either tell great stories about us or the worst. If you got something pure and spontaneous within you, please don’t waste away what you can offer to others who need you. The world needs superheroes to make a positive difference through their gifts, ideas, vision, and love for others (empathy).

You can do what needs to be done by making a choice of doing the right thing. Making the right choices from now on, and believing in yourself every step of the way. Find out what makes you get up every morning to pursue a dream or goal with some enthusiasm. Better yet, get outside yourself and find as much good in this world to keep you going. Be the action superhero who can create a better today and an optimistic future.

Don’t ever sell yourself short because of your own insecurities and especially the harmful opinions of others. If you were born to live on this blue rock of a planet, consider yourself blessed to have lived life because your true power still resides within you. An untapped potential that is ready to hit the big silver screens.
