Dino Crisis (1999)
There’s no surprise for any millennial lad who grew up loving dinosaurs and would collect books, toys, trading cards, movies, and games during the 90s and early 00s. However, one specific game caught my interest back in the late 2000s. Dino Crisis (1999). I didn’t own the hard copy of the game but purchased the digital version through the PlayStation Store on my PS3.
Funny enough, I never beat the game because as a teenager I got scared by the music score and jump scares from the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptors. On a side note, “Kengo, avoid this game like the black plague. The jump scares will get you like Paragus’s true form would.” Anywho, Dino Crisis is like a Resident Evil (Bio Hazard) game but with dinosaurs instead of freaky zombies.
Besides Street Fighter II, Marvel vs Capcom II & III, and the Resident Evil game series being Capcom’s champions, Dino Crisis hasn’t received its fair dues. It deserves an honorable remake for the old fans and newcomers. There’s a fan remake of the game which looks impressive (link source included) but Capcom would need to have its developers make an official remake.
I don’t keep up with the news or how wide the need is for remaking Dino Crisis, but in terms of reviving the long-forgotten franchise will spark a newfound love for gamers who grew up loving dinosaurs. I’m quite optimistic we’ll be getting this remake but it’ll be a matter of time when the news arrives.
