Thank God for the 80s and 90s

Music from the 1980s and 90s is God-sent. I’ve been going on a YouTube safari hunt for several years to discover hidden and well-known gems of American Pop Culture. Artists like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Kenny Loggins, Vanessa Williams, Jane Child, Michael Jackson, Stan Bush, Pebbles, Luther Vandross, Paula Abdul, Selena, Debbie Gibson, and many more of the best talent-created timeless pieces. Two of the best generations of heartfelt songs were produced by these legends and those who never got the recognition they deserved.

Once I get my time machine working someday, I’ll travel back into the ’80s and ’90s to experience the concerts, the early stage of MTV’s greatest hits, buy cassette tapes and vinyls of my favorite artists, have an acting role on the Footloose film, and do a duet song with Mariah Carey. If anyone is interested in traveling back to a time I never got to experience, let’s ride together and forget that social media existed.

Maybe I won’t ever get that time machine working, but Lord, I hope He shows me what the good life of the 80s and 90s looked like! But to get back on track, listening to music from these two generations warmed up my heart and inspired me as an artist. Mariah Carey’s songs Hero, Anytime You Need A Friend, and When You Believe (The Prince of Egpyt) with Whitney Houston have been pivotal in my life. Songs like these give our life purpose through dark times.

I am not yet a historian of 80s and 90s music but whenever I listen to many of the songs I’ll list on this post, it feels as though I get to experience the best part of American history. The type of music that speaks to the heart and often puts me on the Footloose dance regiment. It’s cool to hear my parents got to experience the best time of their youth when people felt connected and shared their love for amazing songs that can never be replicated.
