What the Fear!
Having fear is normal but to allow it to dominate your life is not the way to live. For example, I recently had a dream where I allowed people from my past to walk over me. You know what I did, I ran away from every problem like a coward in that dream. I chose the easiest solution to evade rather than confront my fear of confrontation. Worst of all I wanted to “keep the peace.”
In my dream, there was a point where I stood my ground and had enough. A sudden fuse of courage lit up and pushed me to fight for my dignity than to have someone destroy it. So I ended up speaking up for how I had been treated and that person backed off.
Standing up for myself liberated me from feeling a like a victim towards bullying. Realizing the simplicity of saying how you feel and setting boundaries shows that you love yourself. You also learn to see the value in your personal worth.
My dream taught me a few key life lessons:
- Never allow anyone to disrespect you in any sort of fashion.
- Confront your fears and be willing to rock the boat for the right reasons.
- Believe in yourself at all cost.
- Love yourself because nobody can treat you like a pile of yesterdays garbage unless you let them.
- Speak up for yourself even it scares the hell out of you.
- State your boundaries and don’t let anyone cross them under any circumstances.
To end things off, nobody is going to defend you in every scenario but you. I believe the greatest superheroes that exist in our lives come from within. Our beliefs, dreams, purpose, and self-dignity.
